1408 (Not worth watching)

“The Dolphin Hotel invites you to stay in any of its stunning rooms. Except one.”
1408 is based on Stephen Kings short horror story with the same title.
It tells the story about a writer, Mike Enslin, an author of two successful books on supernatural phenomena.
During the ongoing process of writing his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out a mysterious room in one of New York City hotels, room 1408.
Hotel manager, Mr. Olin (Samuel L. Jackson), strongly advise him not to stay in 1408, and warns him about the danger of entering the room.
Even so, Enslin is determined to go in anyway.
Now the plot outline sounds OK, or even more than ok, but honestly this movie does not live up to its expectations.
It has a user rating at imdb.com of 7.1 out of 10, so obviously it’s not the worst movie out there. A lot of people think this is a great thriller with a mix of suprising horror- and psychological scenes, but that is simply not enough.
This is not a movie I would consider to watch more than once, so this will be put under the category of “Bad movies.”
So, is it worth buying? No… Spend your money on something else.
Movie info:

A must see?: No, not a must see. Not the worst movie, but not a good movie either.
Moviesworth rate: 3/10
WHAT, WAS THE MOVIE TOO DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO WRAP YOUR LITTLE MIND AROUND? WHAT DID YOU EXPECT EXACTLY FROM THIS MOVIE ANYWAYS? DID YOU NEED A WORD BY WORD TYPE OF MOVIE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS GOING ON? EVEN THOUGH IT’S NOT A PERFECT MOVIE, I FOR ONE THOUGHT IT WAS VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER MOVIE 9.5/10.
I completely agree with what rattlehead has to say to your poorly done critique of this movie. I for one completely love the movie and Cusack’s performance is a memorable and intriguing one at that. And exactly what was it you were expecting from a Stephen King adaptation? His books don’t tend be included among the great classics of American literature and therefore are only meant to be entertainment, which is EXACTLY what people expect from King, and therefore what they expected from 1408. The movie didn’t set out to change lives or give it’s viewers a spiritual experience, it’s pure, unadulterated entertainment, and for that it gets a clean 9/10.
1408 wasn’t the ‘gold’ transformers was? Perhaps you should change your background to fit the demographic your pursuing, perhaps that of Tila Tequila or that Spears broad. Something pink, light- something that you don’t really have to think about but something that can be shoveled into your gullet nevertheless without working a muscle.
Yech.
You sir/madam
Are an idiot.
This was an excellent movie. John Cusack gave an exceptional performance.
This movie deserves nothing less than an 8/10
I have to agree, loved the film - to the point where I really wish they could do a sequel, but I guess given the fact they killed him off in the movie and they would then need a different character - it just wouldnt be the same
Please kill yourself now!
